Abstract Floors has relationships with most leading timber flooring suppliers throughout New Zealand. Through our network of suppliers we can source a wide range of timber flooring including New Zealand Natives, Australian Hardwoods, American Oak, European Oak, French Oak to name a few. We supply solid as well as engineered timber flooring.
Solid or engineered?
For years solid timber floors were considered the best of the best. Nowadays people are divided in their opinions. With advancement in technology and machining, engineered flooring has exploded onto the market. With a plywood base and a thin top layer or ‘lamella’, engineered flooring is more dimensionally stable and arguably more sustainable, as less slow-growing hardwood material is used. We source FSC or PEFC certified timber where possible. These certifications guarantee the timber is being logged in a sustainable way, and is monitored closely worldwide. Timber floors are by far the most sustainable floor coverings if looked after correctly. The are hard wearing, and can be re-finished when the surface becomes worn or if the trends change. Instead of ripping up and throwing away, we are able to re-use and rejuvenate. Were proud of our industry and the craftsmanship involved in bringing worn floors back to life.
